Document Summary
Common sense is not suf cient enough to understand and predict behaviour. Although, scienti c method is necessary to understand and predict behaviour. Bombing: drop directly above target would make sense but you have to drop in advance. Intuition: distinctive faces are attractive, not growing up. Science: average faces are attractive, most attractive when aging. Statistically determine if x and y are related. These variables aren"t being manipulated, but just researched. Goal is to see if there is an association between the variables. Indicates 2 things about a relationship: strength(absolute value) and direction (sign) Illustrates a quantitative measure of some type of correlation meaning statistical relationships between two or more random variables or observed data. Direction: positive relationship (goes up) vs negative relationship (goes down) Strength: strong correlation (x and y have positive effects on each other) moderate, weak correlation (x and y have negative effects on each other, goes down) Quality of breakfast increases exam score: strong correlation.
