How to develop a research question: exploration: what might be happening, description: what is happening, understanding: why is it happening, prediction: what is likely to happen, evaluation. Involved with those suspected or charged with criminal behavior. Three components to the criminal justice system: courts (lawyers, police and other court personnel, judges, corrections (correctional officers, probation officers, social workers, police (gate keepers to criminal justice system) (contract police, rcmps, victim services) Changes in one part really effect the other parts. (change in prostitution laws changed the way police and corrections responded. Challenges in the criminal justice system: all of these pieces need to be communicating to respond appropriately. They have their own mandated courts of justice, corrections, prison, police, protect interoperability. 11316 systems criminal justice needs to follow despite different regulations and policies. Costs to operate make it expensive (the conservative party is tough on crime) lots of cases take lots of man or women power.
