The most common adult sentences are probation, custody, and fines - as well as. Most commonly imposed sentence in canada - and it refers to the release of the offender to the community under the supervision of a probation officer. Advising the probation officer if there are job or address changes. Some conditions are strict such as ; Residency clause (probation officer has to approve of where they live) Limit contact with certain individuals such as the offenders co-accused. Probationary terms cannot exceed three years, and the median probationary term in 2013-2014 was 365 days. A psr (refer to definitions), provides the court with a wealth of information about the offender and his or her role in the offence(s) - in several provinces they will recommend sentencing. Allows offenders to serve their custody sentences in the community if they follow a number of strict conditions. Introduced in 1995 - to reduce the use of incarceration.
