Criminology: scientific study of crime and criminal behavior. Criminal justice: study of social control and agencies involved with those suspected or charged with criminal offences. Criminal justice system: all of the agencies, organizations, and personnel involved in prevention and response. Police work with police and the courts with courts. They are separate and don"t necessarily work together. (2) and lack of interoperability. Crime and violence: used incorrectly as interchangeable term. Violent behaviour is not necessarily criminal ie: football or damaging one"s own personal property breaking windows in a fit of rage. Violence: the use of physical force to cause pain, injury, or death or damage to property. Criminal behaviours are prohibited by law ie assault. Victim"s willingness to report a particular crime. The ability of the police to investigate the crime. Statistics for conviction and/or imprisonment are not accurate reflection of total amount of crime in canada.
