Where feminist view men as violent and controlling take advantage of women look to empower women: liberal feminism look for gender equality equal opportunity remove the division of power and labor between sexes. The criminal justice system is more forgiving towards women. Research shows that when females contradict gender roles, the system is actually more harsh: liberation thesis. Level of feminine crime increased in 1960-1970"s. Said to be because they were out of the house so they had more opportunity to commit crime. Women are more likely to steal or be a prostitute than men: power control theory. Their daughters are far more controlled and supervised. They are to take the roles of their mothers.
