Examples: crime prevention through environmental design (cpted, closed circuit television (cctv) Secondary programs focus on areas that produce crime and disorder. Proper design and effective use of environment can reduce crime and fear of crime. Territoriality: message of ownership over space, signs, logos, gated communities, neighbourhood watch. Maintenance: cleanliness, unkeep, quick repairs, links to broken windows theory. If a window in a building is broken and is left unrepaired, all the rest of the windows will soon be broken one unrepaired broken window is a signal that no one cares and so breaking more windows costs nothing. Determine current, high-risk targets (25 youth in each division)
