Do what is necessary to promote prosperity=jobs, pensions, increased consumption. > open markets that foster trade (based on comparative adv) and investment. Stable, predictable property rights, enforcement of contracts, transparent and accountable standards (reduce corruptions) Foster free markets via elimination of subsidies, tariffs. Some favour (cid:498)eco-efficiency(cid:499)= producing more with less resources-> will ultimately make firms more profitable. Label for voluntary, as opposed to legislated, approach to taking responsibility for the environment- eg iso standard for env. Stress on role of international organizations, treaties and regimes and capacity building. Advocate precautionary principle where scientific evidence is lacking. Advocate global environmental regimes among sovereign states to achieve compliance around env. From env regime formation to implementation, compliance, enforcement. Need for state capacity building-> new world bank shift to this approach (shift from market to institutionalist orientation?)
