Future directions in the field of youth justice. We know what does not work more than we know what does work. Law and order approaches might make us feel better punishing people who break the law. As far as preventing, these policies do not have a lot of merit: they actually do more harm than good especially referring to youth. Evaluations that do have an impact on youth who have been involved with crime. It"s important to realize that the ycja is almost too late the person is almost broken. We need to bring the numbers down (40% of youth involved with crime) More political decisions need to be made rather than based on empirical decisions. Across the street from the toronto south detention centre. Can hold 1,600 inmates (most in remand custody: biggest jail in ontario, and most are young men who have been in conflict with the law when they are young people, they are awaiting trial.
