Recall: a set of general propositions meant to explain social phenomena scale laughed at: most forms of deviance with elicit a response that will try and control. Deviance is a result of spiritual problems. Spiritual theories today: certainly less common, heinous acts and intimations of (cid:498)evil(cid:499, e. g. People who commit unspeakable/abhorrent crimes are: can(cid:495)t understand something, just blame it on something otherworldly or spiritual, a response to acts that defy understanding? labeled as evil (dahmer, bernardo, etc. ) These theories would be considered objective: back in salem, accusers were certain that women were possessed, than complete answer spirits conduct, just blame spirits. Positivism (19th and 20th century) there was no perception.
