Both films look into a more organic depiction of real life drama and life struggles many face in the real world that doesn"t stray away and leaves the audience with a. Themes of culture that aren"t as prominent & topics not so popularly published strong underlying message carried throughout (e. g. gay rights & mental health/ cultural diversity) Stronger themes less embellished than widely distributed films. Cultural understandings of diversity (gender & cultural) both prominent themes within both films, around human diversity. Gets to know his students despite cultural gap- despite his difficulty adapting to the school system"s constraints. As the children try to move on from their former teacher"s suicide, nobody at the school is aware of bashir"s painful past/precarious status as a refugee. His wife, died along with daughter and son in arson attack.
