Essay on the principals of populaions: species cannot grow exponenially, at some point they will become limited by resources, implicaion. Some individuals will do beter than others because of variaion in traits. Great ferility in proporion to support of parents. Grandchildren like grandfathers: condiions for natural selecion. Mendel"s geneic experiments provided a missing piece of the puzzle. Natural selecion: change in the number of alleles from one generaion to the next. Geneics provided the ability to generate real predicions and developing compeing hypotheses. Mutaion, recombinaion, migraion: diferences in reproducive success (incl. survival, heritable (mechanism) Process by which non-random diferences in survival and reproducion lead to an increase in the proporion of beneicial heritable characterisics in a populaion over muliple generaions. Any gene that codes for a trait that increases the itness of its bearer (the individual) relaive to others in the populaion will increase in frequency. Probabiliies process not an all or nothing event.
