History of liberaion movements shows that we have diicult in recognizing latent prejudices: gays, hispanics, women"s rights coming into place (liberaion movements, people have diicultly recognizing that they have objecionable aitudes toward minority groups. A liberaion movement demands an expansion of our moral horizons and an extension or reinterpretaion of the basic moral principle of equality : need to start seeing people as people. What was previously unquesioned or natural comes to be seen as an unjusiiable prejudice: the fact that it was natural or unquesioned isn"t a good reason. Prejudice oten confers beneits on those who hold the prejudice. Because of liberaion movements, the number of people is geing bigger and bigger. Only those individuals to whom we owe consideraion form part of the moral community. Part of the history of liberaion movement is the extension of the boundaries of the moral community. He thinks the boundaries are not complete and we must consider animals.
