The individual is a microcosm part of the group: not a miniature version of the group, all individuals are an microcosm of the group, each of use embody the group - common elements. The content of an individual is socially constructed/defined. Things have meaning because we give them meaning and are taught the meaning. Breast feeding - society thinks its bad - (cid:271)ut it"s a natural pro(cid:272)ess. Religious scholar took the supernatural and tried to understand it naturally: aristotle - earth isn"t the center the sun is. Kicked out of his church for his idea -1492. Eventually the church apologized and invited him back -1992. Religion was dominant in that time in europe.
