Piaget"s view on the process of developmental change [organization & Assimilation = the rst step of promoting growth, involving tting environmental input to our existing mental capacities. A child sees a cow for the rst time and because it has four legs, he calls it a dog. Accommodation = enlarging our mental capacity to t input from the wider world. Corrected on cow not dog by a parent and uses new info to name that animal cow. Object permanence = understanding that objects still exist even when we no longer see them. Explains peek-a-boo, as life is a series of disappearing pictures. A-not-b-error = right cloth even though object on left. Cognitive skill to know objects still exist when taken away. Egocentrism = the preoperational child"s inability to understand that other people have different points of views from their own. Arti cialism = belief that human beings make everything in nature.
