Determine the in uence of soil texture on soil water retention. When water hits the soil surface it can either. In ltrate: from the surface into the soil. Saturated zone: water table, where water would come up too if you dug a pit. Percolation: water moving down towards the ground water and recharging the aquifer. Rate of which in ltration occurs depends on. Nature of impact: rainfall intensity, drop size, snowmelt rates. Slope of the land surface: the length of the slope plays a role, as water moves down the slope the most runo will occur closer to the bottom. Wherever there is concave part of the landscape, the water ow will move slower. Function of texture, som, vegetation, both increase in ltration rates. Organic matter increase bulk density which makes porosity goes up. Larger pore, more in ltration rate (sand will have the greatest)
