If not treated can lead to sterility and infertility (pelvic inlammatory disease [pid]) If transferred to baby during birth can lead to blindness for baby (silver nitrate solution in eyes prevents infection) Can lead to infections of uterus and fallopian tubes (pid) Lice = tiny crabs (grey or brownish red) Scabies = tiny mites (can"t see, burrow under skin) Acquired through unprotected sex or non-sexual contact (bedding or towels) Acquired through unprotected oral/vaginal/anal sex; skin to skin contact. Common virus in young sexually active persons, /w multiple partners. May note tiny eggs or lice within pubic hair. Rash may appear in folds of skin (e. g. , b/w ingers, bend of elbow), abd or genitals. Painless sores (= chancre) in mouth, vagina or rectum; resolves in 1-5 weeks. Rash over body (contact with same can cause infection) May have more than one type of hpv.
