Lot of debate about what is the west. We have a region and we should be able to speak. Provincial efficacy: alberta and saskatchewan usually has discontent with feds. Feelings of fair treatment : variation between provinces. For years, the west has felt that policies from the feds have only benefitted central. The rates to ship your grain on trains and tariff policies were issues of discontent. Feds wanted to impose federal authority over energy resources to establish new sharing and revenue control schemes without consent. Alberta responded by cutting oil by 5% and then by 10% Nep destroyed oil program in western canada. Montreal was given contract for aircraft repair contract. Quebec is one province, while western canada has four different provinces: premiers speak for their provinces, no institutional voice or regional voice to represent the west.
