Document Summary

Biological basis of criminal behavior: the born criminal, physique and crime, twin and adoption studies, neurochemical correlates, ans arousal and antisocial behavior, prefrontal cortex dysfunction, neurocognitive correlates, evolutionary models. The biological basis of criminal behavior: the born criminal. Believed that criminals were more genetically similar to their primitive ancestors than non-criminals homo delinquens (e. g. , flattened nose, large ears), and had a special penchant for tattoos, slang, and unique set of physical characteristics. Developed a body typing classification system for identifying criminals called somatotyping. Found a strong correlation b/w personality ( somatotype temperament. Monozygotic (mz) twins: identical, 100% of same genes. Dizygotic (dz) twins: fraternal, 50% of same genes. Mz twins should show greater concordance on a characteristic (e. g. , Dr. m. olver psy 230. 3 (02) 2 intelligence, antisocial behavior) than dz twins, if there is a genetic basis to that trait. Children separated from biological parents at birth are compared to them and their adoptive parents on a given characteristic.
