SLSC 398 Lecture Notes - Lecture 21: Zygote, Mycelium, Dikaryon
Document Summary
Fungi have evolved that grow into the ovaries and seed, they become a part of the seed so they are already infected when the plant germinates. Some get in-between the seed coat and the cell itself, or in the tissue. Most of the rusts belong to a group of organisms that are pucciniales. Anything is a closed space, they will infect healthy plants and grow in the tissue. They are di cult to manage because they make 5 di erent spores, 6 di erent stages in their life. Not all of these happen on the same plant, and not all of them happen at the same time. Some of the form in di erent times of the year and some form in the same part of the plant. Galls: caused by overgrow of tissue, the infection will cause cell to proliferate and infected with hyphae.
