Document Summary
You should be wearing a lab coat and safety glasses: surgical gloves and new scalpel blades are for sale on the front bench, together with the bone shears and the pliers for changing scalpel blades. Discard old scalpel blades (and any other dangerous objects) in the sharps container on the side bench: dissection. Please see pages 39 & 40 in your manual. Contrary to the directions in the manual, you are advised to begin removing the skin at the ventral midline and work dorsally. If you find that some areas are difficult (axillae and groin, for example) try dissecting from a different direction than you have been using. It is very dangerous to make any gesture or other manoeuvre with the hand while it is holding a scalpel. ii. If a hand is pressed against them hard enough, they will puncture the dissector"s glove, and possibly the skin as well. iv.
