Document Summary

In conclusion, the purpose of this lab had been met. The dissolving of the initial copper wire through a series of reactions, which involved numerous acids, bases, and copper compounds, resulted in the recovery of a solid copper state in a so called pure form. To analyze the percent recovery of the copper and represent the success of the experiment, the recovered mass (in grams) had been taken and divided by the initial mass. In our case, the result was to find that 87. 9% of the initial mass had been recovered. Compared to the best possible recovery, of 100%, our results are considerably close. With this in mind there have been imperfections in the lab procedure which propose the value. Specific to this lab, there is a very high dependency on the previous steps for the next one to provide perfect results.
