Static ram is significantly expensive, but definitely faster, and preferred compared with dynamic ram. Flash memory - not reliable in long term, but faster. Data would probably be lost during some point of execution of codes. Sram: not practical, can choose to use very little of the sram. Temporal locality: same data item likely to be used again soon, loop. Spatial locality: close data item likely to be used soon, iteration through array. Locality: set of data used during certain time period. Suppose we have 500 dvds with essential data stored in niagara falls. Assume it takes 2 hours to get the data shipped to waterloo. How many giga bits per second that i have access to? (500 * 8. 59 * 10 * 8) bits /(120 * 60) sec 4. 7 gbps. If we"re moving something from cache, we"re copying data from the memory.
