Feel catholic church is becoming corrupt (i. e. buy forgiveness for sins) Regular sermon -> spoken in the vernacular, then written in latin. I. e. they aren"t educated, therefore they do not know latin. Produced in such a way that it allows indulgences. Notions that sermons and the bible are only available in latin. People should be able to hear it and read it in their own language. Churchmen -> it"s too difficult, just take our word and do as we say. People are executed for teaching children an english version of the lord"s prayer. Sparks a greater interest in literacy, and allows for people who are not elite to become literate. If you are a critic of the catholic church, amongst the people who will become protestants, it"s important to read the bible for yourself.
