Carves out ways that rhetoric could come into use. Flattering the audience, some who don"t need to go over it, some who don"t know it. Meat of the matter is teaching the truth. Teaching is linked to persuasion, and to building community - conciliation, move people who have fallen into error. We need more than truth to move people. If someone is going to be moved, the truth is important enough to teach them, but devices are necessary to move minds. Saying yes the christian, and the christian preacher needs to have the weapons of rhetoric at their disposal so their enemies will not live. Uneloquent honest man wins vs the eloquent but unhonest man. If we handle it carefully and honestly, and don"t accept it when it comes from the wrong hands, it"s a powerful tool. Rhetor must understand his skill, when in doubt though, read the bible. Apologia, explanation for something that needs an explanation.
