Precocial born good to go; e. g. , canada geese. Breeds in mature deciduous and mixed forests (old growth) Cavity nester (unusual for warblers: tree always surrounded by water. Breeds in sw ontario in carolinian zone. Follows the yellow-bellied sapsucker to suck from its holes. Nest of plant fibres, animal hair, spider milk: primarily in native oaks and maples, 2 eggs. Only in the americas: ruby-throated hummingbird only ontario species.
