Mostly 20 somethings except for jj jackson in his 40s: left big radio station cause he knew mtv would be big, considered the wise old man with mature perspective. Profound impact on the generation: turned music into a visual experience, this was the future of the industry. Before mtv: the long and winding history of the music video in the world of rock: promotional videos were not new. Many music inspired films: beatles, monkees, the movie tommy and many other rockumentary. Big movies that promoted popular music: easy rider, saturday night fever. What was new: channel dedicated to music videos 24 hrs, changed how we consumed music watched and listened. Repetitive music video airings in the first year: wasn"t much selection of videos yet, most were new wave, new wave/mtv unique partnership.
