Neolithic period (from 10,000 8,000 bc) West: the culture/civilization that emerged from the west over a period of centuries. 3 features that define what is western individuals. (not religious) secular in spirit: a system of political/social philosophy that rejects all forms of religious faith/worshipping. Women noticed seeds turned into crops when nourished with time which made them successful. Associated their body with seeds, thus agriculture was born. Agriculture was regular (better than hunting) more leisure time because not much work. Domestication of animals, instead of killing them for meat, they could be bred to be used when nessacary. Water used for irrigation, crops, harvests, ensured survivial for another year. Highway transportation to territories that allowed you to trade. China had little influence over western civilization. Primitive men did not allow specialization of labor. Mesopotamia & egypt important civilizations, closest to europe.
