In response to that you must pay people less. Keep wages at a subsistence level (exactly enough money in order to survive) and no higher. Iron law of wages is what he terms this idea. State intervention will disrupt the state of nature. Limited state involvement is the ultimate goal. He saw charity as the ,main part of the problem. Charity encourage people to be lazy, have personal failure and drunkenness. Adam smith is not the same as ricardo and malthus. Ricardo and malthus can actually put their ideals to work - this was during the irish. No income from farm during the famine. No food due to the plants being destroyed. We have to let nature take its course.
