Gender defines how people perceive you, how you act, behaviours and expectations. You also have control of how you perceive yourself. Story: doctor couldn"t operate on her son- > father and son injured. Most people would expect the doctor to be male. Women don"t necessarily have to look a certain way here to be as identified as a female. No man would normally ever wear a skirt. How do we organize ourselves in society- > gendered lives: In school: men are recognised for aptitude and women for being well behaved. Health care: women = nurse , men = doctor. Family: mom"s will generally cook and clean, take maternity/parental leave. Men also need to form strong bonds with kids.
