Ethics examines the criteria used to determine right from wrong. The term ethics also refers to a code of behavior or conduct. Our behavior reflects our belief system which is shaped by our parenting, home environment, societal factors, religion, friends, and education. Morality extends from a system of beliefs about what is right and wrong. It encompasses a persons values, beliefs, and sense of duty/responsibility. Morals are what a person believes to be right and wrong regarding how they treat others and how to behave. Morals can be said to define a persons character. Ethics can be described as an individuals collection of morals. As a professional code of conduct, ethics encompasses the morality and moral beliefs of the profession.
