KIN104 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Proprioception, Peritoneum, Athletic Training
Document Summary
Epidemiology of the sport, occupation or activity. Physiological: prehap before cardiac bypass and surgery improves physical function and decrease depression. Aerobic fitness reduces side effects of chemo in breast cancer. Reduces sport injury (ankle sprain in soccer, acl in basketball players) (wobble board works different planes) Risk with age: middle age achilles rupture, rotator cuff, ball and socket joints deteriorate with age. Pressure of movement flaws if not fixed still present after surgery. Caused too much pain: improper pose/intensity and pain: person specific, optimum amount. Consider response potential: responders and non-responders. Some athletes respond to performance enhancers meanwhile others do not: genetic potential, previous injury history, body type, psychological profile. What should you do: always show the patient the cause of their pain, injury and disorder. *the first order of business is to show the person the cause of their pain* Patient exam and assessment: find cause and treatment. Manipulate posture, motions and loads to take pain away.
