January 20th - 25th 2016: profiling the profiler & profiling the victim. About 17% of documented serial killers are women. Psychoanalysis is knowing oneself, looking at the hidden observer or heart of hearts. Cold (cognitive) biases include the confirmation bias, inaccurate/misapplied event scripts, unacknowledged relevant beliefs, and/or linkage blindness. Hot (motivational) biases include intrusive, case-specific affect, willful ignorance or laziness, ego defence. A victim is one who has been victimized. At one end we can talk about a stalked or targeted victim, where the offender"s state of mind is premeditated. Another type is the type/pattern matching victim, where the offender is also premeditated. Opportunity/obstruction victims are when the offender"s state of mind is not premeditated. At the other end of the continuum, there are the bad luck victims, completely not premeditated.
