Nation state- territory, a government that controls the population, and a population. The law of sanctuary- if you committed a crime and you claimed sanctuary (in a church) the government can"t get you because they must respect the church. Morality tells you what you should do. Determining right vs wrong, having a good conscience, can be influenced by religion, social norms, personal, culture, standards and principles, applied and enforced by society. Law (universal)- tells you what you shouldn"t do. Justice- consequence for your action, fairness, justice has more to do with morality. Arbitrary violence by the government and the state. Paramilitary: armed but not apart of any distinctive government. Used to do the dirty work of a government or on the orders of some other authority.
