They have a problem with how marxists view crime and offer a critique of left idealism. Robin hood - steal from the rich and give to the poor. These are the kind of romanticized versions of crime. Lower class commits crime - they aren"t being noble like robin hood or che guevara. Most crime is intra-class crime (within a class) Left idealists ignore what is happening at the bottom (1% vs 99%) Left realism - figure out how lower class people are being victimized in their daily lives. Left realists want to create a holistic social perspective of crime (not focusing on biology) Something that we can see happens within groups for social reasons. 1. crime is a problem for the lower class and the minorities because of social disadvantage. 2. the majority of crime is intraclass. 3. the issue is relative poverty in the lower 99% and this is what causes crime.
