Review on readings: hunting gathering society- mutual cooperation. Worked together because they had to work together: society changed from hunting gathering society to feudal states- introduction of private property- shift to law. Intro to the states- set of laws that are codified- central body. Jumped to interest groups and the law (13 slides) Bourgeoisie- good at promoting and protecting their own interests. State must manage interest of their own political party, majority of people they represent, interests groups, lobby groups, Hillary clinton charges- in bed with wall street- hedge funds fund her campaign. Government doesn"t impose carbon tax so they don"t lose their workers to malasia. Bottom line is profit for cooperation- don"t care about human rights, animal laws. Makes products in places with lower taxes, lower minimum wage. Free trade zones come in- lose environmental protection, not many labour laws. Can the same be said for cooperation in the interest of lobby groups.
