Document Summary

Shit from social welfare (keynesian approach) to neoliberalism: shit in how to deal with poverty. Dominant poliical and economic ideology can shape how people are coming into contact with the law, and can shape how law is interpreted and administered. Signiicant shit to neoliberalism in the past 40 years: began to pick up speed in 1980s/90s, an issue within all of ontario/canada/global. There is a social responsibility to provide protecion to those who are vulnerable all ciizens are to be protected: social responsibility to provide protecion to those that are vulnerable, ex. Person struggling/near death from poverty, others with wealth/resources (the state in paricular) should step in and help them. Those who are struggling have the right to protecion. Economic logic applied to social policy and law. (key shift: social policy gets framed towards market resources, tend to be understood on capitalist economic concerns. Individual responsibility self-reliance, independence: heavy emphasis on this.
