Domesticated: man made to benefit humans done by purposeful full mating (artificial selection) Dogs first domestricated creatures (wolves) not tamed wolves. domestication is a genetic process whilst taming is a behavioural process. Earliest dogs were on scene 15 years, genetics record tells us wolves domesticated before that. Wolves might even been domesticating themselves by habitutating themselves to humans. Wolves-> dogs change a few nucleotide bases (variations in same genes) Dog breads come from four lines of grey wolves from eastern and western asia. Bullmastiff: distinct line of wolves big,confident to keep pochers off european dogs (intimidating humans) Pomerian: miniturized from sled dogs by queen victoria (breeding program) Old english sheepdog: fur to withstand cold in english and scottish highlands. Poodle: breeded for hunting dogs, ribbons is for hair and was getting water logged, shaved key areas of body and left hair for keeping heat on key areas. Great danes chiuaha: bread for killing rats and mice.
