Document Summary

It is quite possible that the bully has been victimised in the past at some time, but this is not necessarily the case. It is quite likely that the bully has been legitimated for taking on the bully role and/or not held accountable for their bullying behaviour. Bullying often provides a sense of purpose; a role in the organization. The bully often receives pleasure from the use of power, and from intimidating others. One characteristic of a bully is that they cannot say no to themselves. A bully often has supporters who help the bully to do their work. And, if the leader is the bully, they may have the support of a certain segment of the group, often a population base that is weaker, together with a few people from the power group, within the organization. Often an organization or individuals within the organization can nd a certain comfort in the victim role.
