PHYS112 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Projectile Motion, Parallelogram

69 views2 pages

Document Summary

Lecture 4: we learned about projectiles, and did many sample problems in which we had to calculate height, time and speed of the projectile. A projectile is any object which is shot in the air with an initial velocity, where the only force acting on it is gravity. We learned about relative velocities in one dimension: And we learned about relative motion in two dimensions, where motion in the vertical and horizontal directions are dealt with. The example given in class was that of a boat crossing a river with a current. Heading: this is the direction you point the vehicle, thus the direction of vbw. Goes: the direction the vehicle moves relative to the shore, vbs. We learned the parallelogram method to tell in which direction the vector you want to figure out should be pointing. Lectue 6: we completed some more 2d problems.
