Informality is most often understood as a process by which self-built or irregular settlements occur at the legal, socio-economic and spatial margins of the city. Informality is better understood as a negotiation constantly redefining governance practices and land/infrastructure services. Informality does not exist in isolation but rather as extension of formal processes. Why or why not: displacement - elyse, we have different situations of funding"s and views; Informality as a mode of metropolitan urbanization: metropolitan expansion can be driven by informal urbanization (e. g. , mexico city). Just over 40% of dwellings have title deeds in the federal district, while the number is a little less than 40% in the state of mexico. A sort of tactic non-eviction pact" with residents exist in mexico city. Distinct forms of informal settlements: suburban informal settlements, village in the city (often associated with passive urbanization).
