PLAN341 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Water Cycle, Ecosystem Services, Sediment Transport
Document Summary
Watersheds are becoming a logical planning in a way to view the management of landscapes, before were managed by political boundaries rather than landscape functions. Notion of watershed and particular land use within that watershed, it puts the watershed and land use in context with what"s going on with atmosphere, earth"s surface, and beneath. Beneath are soils, those soils have an influence on the flow of water and hydrology of system, so how much water is going into the ground and how it flows, air flow and precipitation. Watershed as logical planning unit by considering some processes acting within that system. Recent years, no one disciplined can understand and manage can understand complex problems we we face today, by looking at interdisciplinary problems, we need to bring everyone together. Before, was bounded by a political boundary and economy was big part but environment was a small part in managing systems. Think about interconnection and interrelationship b/w economy, community, and environment.
