Week one, lecture 1 - sept 14 th : the canadian poliical system. Relaive prioriies of values is diferent for each person. Interests are very oten; in conlict as people will act to secure their own interest and because of scarcity we reach conlict. Poliics is an authoritaive mechanism to setle compeing interests. These types of decisions are important and have to be made authoritaively. Poliics is oten making choices in terms of public interest and the society as a whole. Resolving conlicts authoritaive mechanism to setle compeing interests. Allocaing things of value decisions on services (who gets what and how) Making choices in the public interest responding to social, economical, poliical issues. The poliical system is a model of poliical interacion with inputs and outputs. Issues problems requiring government acion; demands have to be recognized as important enough to become public issues; elected oicials address issues (solve problems) to generate public support.
