Baddeley"s model of working memory has 4 different components: a central executive which controls the attention divided between the 3 modules". Information is filtered from sensory register to short term memory which has a limited capacity of 7+/- 2 items and retains the information for 20-30 seconds after which the information is forgotten. Baddeley does not include capacity or duration in his model. This short term memory is involved in the conscious process of memory in which information in short term memory can then be transferred into long term memory.
