(many guidelines with research) Exploring a phenomenon with no prede ned theories: case studies or observations. (not a method typically seen in psychology unless used for case studies) Test theories about cause-effect relationships among variables. An opinion based on an observation of a singular piece of evidence. It"s theory testing, it"s research that is based on data. Must have potential to falsify the theory (a way the theory could be proven wrong) A testable prediction about the processes that can be observed and measured.
