PSYCH207 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Alan Baddeley, Active Set Method, Endel Tulving
Document Summary
Levels of processing: this is a theory of memory that focuses on the types of processing that we do in order to store and retrieve items from memory. Craik and endel tulving: published a similar experiment to the one completed above in 1975, memory was better for their m task than it was for their case and r tasks. It has been made popular recently by roediger and mcdermott in their experiment, Less severe retrograde amnesia commonly seen when one has a concussion (from car accident or fall) It affects memory for life events but does not appear to affect things like social skills, language, or any previous skills that we have mastered. Explicit memory: explicit tests of memory include exams you write in class; or memories that we consciously recall; these memories are generally linked to particular periods of time.
