Most of the information early on will not necessarily be tested material (there are a lot of bonus slides in the full slides section). What we sense from the world is not an always an accurate account of what is in the real world. We miss out seeing different wavelengths and cannot always hear what frequencies are around us. Cognitive psychologists use a lot of models (we do not need to explain or memorize this model). Psychology is unique that is an empirical based study of many sub-units. Science is not just facts; we need more than a compilation of facts. We need a systematic approach to organize and find facts which is done through methodology. There is a paradigm shift when the new addresses the limitations of the old. Understanding the mind has been a long process ever since the mind became a topic of discussion.
