Information processing, memory increases, by 2 years old, our memory is pretty good. No matter who you are, you have a pretty good foundation of everything. All these abilities are important and fundamental. Set of innate knowledge/core domains: research by ren object permanence. Come from unique domains and productively combine them to previous knowledge: reasoning system. Phonology phonemes: sounds that make up language, language specific sounds= phonemes. Prosody: cadence of a language, pitch and tone. Reading about car engine but cannot actually do anything with it. 2-6 months approx: cooing: start with vowel like noises (cid:498)oooo(cid:499) (cid:498)ahhh(cid:499, babbling: consonants are added and longer strings (cid:498)bababababa(cid:499, canonical babbling: 6-9 months (cid:498)dadadadadada(cid:499) 2 kinds: speech (ie. dadadadada or mamamamamama: variegated babbling: 10-14 months sounds like they are practicing. Almost sounds like language, raising tone, taking turns.
