Personality traits - influence the way individuals interact with their physical & social environments. We know that personal, social & moral development influences student motivation & learning in schools. Bronfenbrenner"s ecological theory: focus on social contexts, influence of others, five environmental systems. Erikson"s theory of personal & social development: emphasized the emergence of the self, the search for identity and the individual"s relationships with others throughout life, stages of psychosocial development. Erikson stated that: all humans have the same basic needs and each society must provide for these needs. This led to his psychosocial theory of development. Think about psycho and social: psycho referring to emotional changes, and social to relationship in the social environment or social context. Erikson proposed eight stages that humans go through in life. That is, accomplishments at later stages depend on resolving conflicts in earlier stages. Essentially, each stage has a developmental crisis (conflict between positive and negative alternatives.
