Document Summary

There are two types of interviewees witness and suspects. There are two types of goals in interviews gathering information or seeking a confession. If you treat a witness as a suspect and try to pressure them, you actually run the risk of getting misinformation from the witness. You can also fail if you look at someone as a witness instead of as a suspect. Good interviewers are someone who is unbiased (shouldn"t have predetermined assumptions), capable of asking clear questions & hearing the answers accurately, and is the interviewer capable of adjusting to the characteristics or nature of the interviewee. Praise or flattery used to get people to tell give up information ( this was such a good crime. I just don"t get how you got into the vault ) In their best interest this is going to be a lot better for you if you give up information we can cut you a deal .
