Criminal profiling: an overview monday, september 28, 2015. Hunters/trackers- prehistory, what they"ve done for 1000 of years is a kind of profiling. They are looking for a type of animal looking for physical evidence to figure out where they are. They"re trying to make sense of physical evidence. Depending on the animal they look for different circumstances, that is what guides the search (ex. In basic terms this is profiling, we have an unknown offender who has left some kind of physical evidence at the crime scene. Criminalistics- people had the idea that humans leave evidence. 1300 in china, there was the discovery of this and make sense out of this, the idea that fingerprints can be used as individuating evidence. A person"s fingerprints are unique, each person has their own. Also they found out that fingerprints can be left on an item, its transferrable- this is basic forensic thoughts. That impression is what determines how we behave around them.
